ENGINEERING FOR PREDICTABLE PERFORMANCE

Valent’s packaged rooftop units are engineered to respond smoothly as building conditions change. The VR and VX units use lead inverter scroll compressors, which modulate compressor speed to match the load rather than cycling on and off to try and control space temperature. This enables precise control over a wide operating range, supports efficient part-load operation, and increases reliability by eliminating the frequent starts and stops with traditional staged equipment. Other design features contribute to dependable operation:

• Direct drive fans, also standard, eliminate belts that need to be adjusted and replaced.
• Variable frequency drives (VFDs) allow fan speed to match required airflow so the unit maintains performance amid changing operating conditions.
• Fully modulating low-leakage dampers provide efficient economizer functionality with a robust linkage that eliminates the need for adjustment.

For the unit cabinets, double-wall injected foam construction with a painted exterior that features a 2,500-hour salt spray rating creates a rigid, well-insulated, corrosion-free cabinet. This limits air leakage, sound transmission, and unwanted heat transfer while protecting the components inside the unit.

MANUFACTURING FOR CONSISTENT QUALITY

Every Valent unit comes to life the way it was designed. Component placement, refrigerant piping, electrical wiring, controls: each step follows the specifications set during engineering and product selection.

Automation drives much of that consistency. Integrated machines cut and bend panels with precision, while Automated Guided Vehicles move each unit-in-progress through assembly bays in a controlled sequence. The results are dependable execution and shorter lead times.

Skilled technicians step in to assemble the complex mechanical and electrical systems that turn a design on paper into working equipment, running in-process quality checks at each stage. Their expertise closes the gap between engineering intent and factory-floor reality.

TESTING OPERATION BEFORE SHIPMENT

Every Valent VR or VX unit leaves the factory fully tested. A comprehensive 1+ hour end-of-line test runs through all modes of operation, providing a final opportunity to resolve all issues before the unit reaches a jobsite.

The test covers four areas:

• Safety and electrical systems. Technicians inspect all wiring and run a high-voltage test to confirm electrical integrity, then use Valent’s testing software to operate individual components manually and verify their performance.
• Refrigeration. Compressors, refrigerant circuits, and refrigerant charge are checked thoroughly, followed by a final leak check to confirm the system is safe.
• Mechanical components. Fans, dampers, and—when equipped—the furnace are run through their full operating range to confirm they meet design parameters.
• Controls. Pre-engineered sequences and factory defaults put the control system through its paces before shipment.
